It has been a year now since Esther got her hearing aids. Her hearing loss is moderate to severe- which means that, unaided, she can barely hear conversation at normal volume, and is unable to detect higher frequency sounds- such as the softer speech sounds, and higher pitched noises- like violin music.
The morning after she had her hearing aids fitted we filmed her listening to Pachelbels Canon in D, hearing the music clearly for the first time. The expression of wonder on her face is priceless. We have watched this so many times, but never without tears in our eyes!
