Last year we were amazed at the stunning array of native wildflowers in our bushland here… with the most exciting discovery being the quantities of White Spider orchids we found once we began to look for them. I had always considered them something rare and mysterious- something I made an annual spring trek to Mount Barker summit to see, so I was delighted to find them so close to home.

Last October our local homeschool group came up for a nature walk, and we got to know the names of several of the bush flowers. I love how Australian native flowers are dainty and less showy than many of their European counterparts, how they embroider the bush in a subtle yet colourful display. I am looking forward to getting reacquainted with them this spring!
