Life was full of girls until October of this year. Liadhan, my dear wife and our beautiful daughters Miriam, Hannah, Esther, Eva and Liadhans’s daughter Emilie were my daily, and I might add, delightful serve of human company. Liadhan was carrying our 5th child, sex unknown. My eldest son Xavier and his partner Colette who live in the UK, were expecting their first child and my first grandchild, sex known…a baby boy. Rory Iluka arrived on 9th October making me a proud grandfather.
We waited for our little bundle to appear…on the evening of 29th October Liadhan went into labour. At 2.44 am on the 30th she delivered a healthy little baby in the birthing pool, in the lounge room at Wildflowers. Liadhan held baby in her arms and after a moment or two she made the the necessary inspection. ‘You’ll never guess what I got, you’re not going to believe this,’ she shrieked, ‘I got one! I got one! I got one in the end! Look, I got one! Look I got one! I really did, I got one!’ She was half laughing, half crying with joy. After 6 girls Liadhan got us a boy!
